Raniji ki Baori, Royal stepwell in Bundi, India
The Raniji ki Baori features multiple levels of staircases descending 46 meters deep into the ground, with intricately carved pillars and detailed stone sculptures.
Queen Nathavati commissioned the construction of this water reservoir in 1699 during the reign of Maharaja Rao Raja Anirudh Singh of Bundi.
The stone carvings throughout the structure depict Hindu deities, mythological scenes, and architectural motifs that represent the artistic traditions of Rajasthan.
The stepwell remains accessible to visitors daily from sunrise to sunset, with guided tours offering detailed explanations of the architectural elements.
The entrance portal displays four distinct columns supporting a high archway, while each level contains dedicated spaces for religious ceremonies.
