Blue Grotto, Sea cave in Anacapri, Italy

The entrance of the cave measures 2 meters wide and 1 meter high, leading to a 56-meter long and 30-meter wide natural chamber.

Ancient Romans used this marine cave during Emperor Tiberius' reign, with archaeological findings revealing multiple statues of Roman deities within its depths.

The grotto remained forgotten until 1826 when German writer August Kopisch and painter Ernst Fries rediscovered and documented its existence.

Access to the grotto requires transferring to small rowboats and lying flat to pass through the narrow entrance during favorable sea conditions.

Sunlight passing through an underwater opening creates an intense blue reflection that illuminates the entire cavern with a silvery azure glow.
