Hennasaki Lighthouse, Lighthouse at Higashi-hennazaki cape, Miyakojima, Japan

Hennasaki Lighthouse is a white tower standing at the eastern tip of Miyakojima on a narrow cape. The structure rises from rocky terrain where the Pacific Ocean and East China Sea converge, creating a dramatic coastal location.

The lighthouse began operating in 1967 in response to safety concerns raised by local fishing communities. Its establishment reflected efforts to improve navigation along this challenging stretch of coast.

The structure belongs to the collection of 50 Lighthouses in Japan, marking the easternmost point of Miyakojima with its enduring presence.

The site is accessible via Route 83, which leads to an observation platform. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear since the path crosses rocky ground and strong winds are common in the area.

The limestone plateau around the lighthouse supports only small white lilies and sea lavender that withstand extreme wind conditions. This sparse vegetation creates an unexpected but striking natural landscape at this exposed location.
