Miyakojima City Tropical Plant Garden

The botanical garden covers 120,000 square meters with mapped walking paths that connect different sections filled with diverse tropical vegetation and flowering plants.

The garden emerged in 1967 on former Ryukyu pine forest land, transforming the post-war landscape into an educational botanical collection for the region.

The on-site Miyakojima Traditional Crafts Village preserves ancient techniques through workshops where artisans create textiles, ceramics, and woodwork products.

Visitors can access the garden without entrance fees and explore four different walking courses ranging from one to four kilometers in length.

The garden maintains 1,600 plant species and 40,000 trees, making it the largest artificial tropical botanical garden in Okinawa Prefecture.
