Telecom Center, Communication skyscraper in Aomi, Japan.
The Telecom Center is a 21-story office tower in Aomi that reaches about 100 meters (330 feet) high. Its aluminum facade has a pattern resembling electronic circuit boards.
Construction took place between 1993 and 1996 through a partnership between Nissoken and HOK architecture firms. The building was designed to represent Tokyo's growing focus on telecommunications infrastructure.
The observation deck draws people who want to see Tokyo from above, especially during New Year when crowds gather to watch the sunrise together.
The building connects directly to Telecom Center Station on the Yurikamome Line for easy access. A free shuttle service runs on weekdays from Tokyo Teleport Station.
The rooftop holds communication satellite antennas from several providers that transmit signals across Tokyo. This hidden function makes the building a quiet backbone of the city's communication network.
