加藤学園幼稚園, Private kindergarten in Numazu, Japan
Kato Gakuen Kindergarten is a private preschool in Numazu with specially designed spaces for different age groups. Three-year-olds use separate classrooms while four and five-year-olds share open areas for play and learning together.
The facility began in 1967 as an attached kindergarten to Numazu Girls' High School. It received its current name, Kato Gakuen Kindergarten, in 1971.
The facility teaches Japanese traditions through tea ceremony and flower arrangement activities led by specialized instructors. These teaching methods shape the children's daily experience and give them a sense of local customs.
Five school buses transport children to and from neighboring towns, with a tracking system letting parents monitor arrival times. The buses make enrollment possible for families across the wider area.
In 1994 the facility launched Japan's first complete English immersion program. Native English speakers work alongside Japanese teachers in the classroom.
