Ankoku-ji, Buddhist temple in Tanto district, Toyooka, Japan.

The temple stands among farmland stretches with a hill behind its main building where multiple Dodan-Tsutsuji shrubs grow in clusters.

Established in 1345 as part of 68 Ankoku-ji temples across Japan, the structure moved to its current location in 1904 after a fire destroyed it in 1717.

The temple belongs to the Daitoku-ji branch of Rinzai School, representing one of three principal Zen Buddhist traditions in Japan.

Visitors can access the main hall during two weeks in November to observe autumn colors, with weekend attendance reaching 3,500 people.

The 160-year-old Dodan-Tsutsuji bushes developed horizontal branches due to heavy snow, extending over ten meters in length.
