Hamanako Palpal, Amusement park in Nishi-ku, Hamamatsu, Japan
Hamanako Palpal is an amusement park beside Lake Hamana in Nishi-ku with thirty rides and attractions. These spread across three zones: an entrance area, a lakeside section, and a hillside zone called Monte that rises above the water.
The park opened in 1971, bringing a new form of entertainment to Shizuoka Prefecture. Over the decades, management expanded the site several times, adding new sections along the lakeshore.
The name Palpal comes from a children's song and is often picked up in tunes and announcements throughout the grounds. Families often gather by the lakeshore for picnics between rides, enjoying the view over the water.
Buses from JR Hamamatsu Station take around 45 minutes to reach the park, with the stop within walking distance of the entrance. Visitors should wear light clothing and comfortable shoes, as the grounds cover several levels with stairs and pathways.
The Fourth Dimension roller coaster reaches a speed of 82 kilometers per hour (51 miles per hour) while rotating seats in multiple directions. These rotations happen independently of the track direction, creating a sense of free fall in midair.
