白滝山

Mount Shirataki is a 667 meter peak at the western end of the Nagato mountain range in Yamaguchi Prefecture. The summit provides views across forested slopes and valleys that spread out in all directions.

The Nakayama Shrine on the mountain has served as a spiritual place for the community across many generations. Well-maintained hiking trails reveal the long history of people using this peak.

Local hikers gather at the summit during sunrise hours to observe traditional mountain ceremonies and share meals together.

Several hiking routes lead to the summit, with the main trail starting from Shirataki Forest Road at roughly 330 meters elevation. The path is clearly marked and requires a moderate level of fitness and hiking experience.

A blue-green waterfall within the gorge creates natural rock formations between steep stone walls along less-traveled paths. This water feature remains hidden from most visitors who stick to the main route.
