西岐波, Coastal district in Ube, Japan
Nishikiwa is a coastal district in Ube that sits along the Suo-nada Sea, with three rivers flowing through it on their way to the ocean. The area developed as a port settlement along these waterways.
The area was incorporated into Ube City in 1943 as an independent village. This merger marked the beginning of its transformation into part of a larger urban community.
The district preserves traces of its mining heritage through the remnants of the former Chosei coal mine, which operated in the region.
The district connects to main transportation routes via National Route 190 and has two JR Ube Line stations for easy access. Visitors can use these train stations to move around the area.
The district houses the Ube Industries Central Hospital and numerous medical clinics. This concentration of medical facilities makes it the main healthcare center for the city.
