Chōsen-in, Buddhist temple in Naka-Meguro, Japan.
Chōsen-in is a temple in the Naka-Meguro residential area featuring a modern concrete main hall alongside traditional wooden structures. Multiple prayer halls and natural features are spread across the grounds to create a complete temple complex.
The sanctuary was founded in 1761 by the monk Tokumon Pujaku. Since then it has served as a religious site for the community for more than two centuries.
The temple serves as a daily prayer space for local residents who visit at different times throughout the day. The open areas allow visitors to witness the quiet moments of religious life here.
From Fudo-mae Station on the Tokyu Meguro Line it is about 10 minutes on foot to reach the temple. The main gate is easy to spot thanks to two guardian statues at the entrance.
Within the grounds sits the Dokko-no-taki waterfall, a small natural wonder tucked into the city. The Amida-do hall is dedicated to Amida Nyorai Buddha and blends religious and natural features in this space.
