Akabori Chausuyama Kofun, Ancient burial mound in Yanai, Japan.
The Akabori Chausuyama Kofun features a distinctive keyhole shape when viewed from above, with one square end and one circular end, spanning 80 meters in length.
Built during the late 4th century, this burial mound received designation as a National Historic Site of Japan in 1948, marking its role in ancient Japanese society.
Excavations in 1892 and 1991 uncovered bronze mirrors, iron swords, jade magatama, and jasper beads, indicating the social status of the entombed individuals.
Located at 75 meters elevation on Mount Mukoyama, visitors can reach the site by taking a 15-minute walk from Yanaiminato Station in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
The largest bronze mirror discovered at the site measures 44.8 centimeters in diameter and remains preserved at the Tokyo National Museum for public viewing.
