Saimyoji

Saimyoji is a Buddhist temple situated on the eastern side of Lake Biwa, displaying traditional Japanese architectural forms. The complex features a three-tiered pagoda and multiple halls dedicated to Buddha worship arranged across the grounds.

This site was founded in the 9th century by a Buddhist priest acting under imperial order during the early medieval period. The temple later survived an attack during a time of military conflict and upheaval in the region.
