Gion-ji, Buddhist temple in Chofu, Japan
Gion-ji temple features traditional wooden architecture with multiple pavilions surrounded by gardens and ancient trees in western Tokyo prefecture.
The temple has maintained its spiritual significance since its establishment, with the main wooden building reconstructed for the last time in 1919.
The temple organizes the annual Ganzandaishi Taisai celebration on March 3rd and 4th, where visitors purchase Dharma dolls to commemorate monk Yakuyoke-Ganzandaishi.
Visitors can access the temple grounds daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with local bus services connecting from nearby train stations.
The temple grounds include one of Tokyo's largest pet cemeteries, where families can reserve dedicated spaces for memorial items and pet urns.
