Sekigahara Town History and Folklore Museum

The Sekigahara Town History and Folklore Museum displays exhibits spanning six periods from prehistoric times to the modern era, featuring local artifacts and historical documents. The galleries trace how the region developed and changed throughout these different epochs.

The first floor houses the Sekigahara Archives, which holds detailed information about the Battle of Sekigahara through various exhibits and documents. This collection makes it a key place for understanding this pivotal military event.

The second floor focuses on life after the Meiji period, displaying tools used for mountain work and traditional farming that shaped daily life here. These objects reveal how people made their living in this region through generations.

The museum sits about an 8-minute walk from JR Sekigahara Station, making it easy to reach on foot from the train platform. Hours are 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM daily except Mondays, with no admission charge.

The museum runs monthly workshops where visitors can learn ancient techniques by creating Wadokaichin coins and making traditional roof tiles with their hands. These hands-on activities connect history with craft experience.
