Ice Museum, Marine preservation facility in Kesennuma, Japan.

The Ice Museum displays 450 marine creatures preserved in crystal blocks at a constant temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius.

Founded in 2002, the Okamoto Ice Refrigeration Plant established this facility to demonstrate innovative preservation methods for marine specimens.

Local fishermen contribute to the museum collection by providing specimens of 70 marine species caught in regional waters.

Visitors receive winter coats before entering the facility, where they can spend five minutes examining frozen marine life in illuminated ice pillars.

The museum incorporates multimedia installations with projection mapping technology to enhance the presentation of frozen aquatic specimens.
