Huaca Melgarejo, Archaeological site in La Molina, Peru.
The ancient structure contains large containment walls, small enclosures, ramps, stairs, and benches built with adobe bricks and clay fillings.
Built between 300 and 600 CE, the temple served as a ceremonial and administrative center for the Lima culture along the Ate-La Molina canal.
The rectangular chambers within the complex featured clean floors, painted walls, and post marks indicating specific ceremonial activities during the Early Intermediate Period.
Located on La Fontana Avenue in Santa Patricia II urbanization, the site remains open for free visits daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
During the War of the Pacific in 1881, Chilean forces utilized the elevated position of Huaca Melgarejo in the Battle of Rinconada.
