Henryk Sienkiewicz Museum in Oblęgorek

Henryk Sienkiewicz Museum in Oblęgorek, Palace museum in Oblęgorek, Poland

The Henryk Sienkiewicz Museum in Oblęgorek is an elegant residential palace containing original furniture, artworks, and personal belongings arranged across multiple rooms from different periods of the writer's life. The ground floor displays a study, dining area, and other living spaces filled with sculptures, paintings, and textiles that reflect the household's character.

The estate was given to the author in 1900 to honor his 25 years of literary contributions to Polish culture. Architect Hugo Kudera designed the residence as a summer home, where the writer lived until his death in 1914.

The writer's presence fills the rooms through his personal belongings and collected items on display. You can sense how his work shaped Polish identity by observing the items people gave him and the space where he spent his creative years.

The museum rooms are situated on the ground floor and can be visited at a comfortable pace without climbing stairs. It is helpful to allow extra time to examine the reconstructed living spaces and study the furnishings and artworks closely.

The dining room features furniture from Maria Szetkiewicz's dowry, including a walnut sideboard and chairs originally from her family's estate. These pieces reveal details about the writer's private life and his connection to his wife's family heritage.
