Palace of Tarło family in Podzamcze

The Palace of Tarło family in Podzamcze is a Baroque structure featuring characteristic facades and architectural details from the 1600s. The ruins still display the proportional features and elaborate ornamentation typical of Baroque design from that era.

The palace was constructed between 1645 and 1650 by architect Tomasz Poncino, drawing inspiration from the Cracow Bishops' residence. A destructive fire in the 1800s severely damaged the building and led to its decline.

The palace demonstrates how wealthy families of the 1600s expressed their power through grand architecture. The remaining structure shows the Tarło family's preference for ornate, Mediterranean-influenced design.

The site is located in a rural area and is reachable on foot, though paths to the ruins may be unpaved. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and check the weather, as the remains stand in an exposed location.

The ruins have been formally designated as a protected monument, making them an important site for architectural research today. Despite their ruined state, the visible masonry fragments reveal much about 1600s building techniques.
