Паровоз-һәйкәл, Steam locomotive monument in Bataysk, Russia.
The SU 252-20 is a large steam locomotive positioned on a concrete base near the railway station square in Bataysk. The machine rests on metal support structures and displays the mechanical details typical of mid-century Soviet rail engines.
Built in 1949 at the Sormovsky Factory in Nizhny Novgorod, this locomotive served during the period when Soviet railways were expanding and modernizing. The engine was eventually brought to Bataysk and placed as a monument to commemorate this railway era.
The monument honors the railway workers of Bataysk and their role in the city's development through transportation. It stands as a reminder of the people whose daily work kept the trains running.
The monument sits in an open plaza adjacent to the railway station, making it easy to access and view from multiple angles. Visitors can walk around it freely and take photographs in daylight, as it is an outdoor installation with no restricted areas.
Special temporary railway tracks had to be laid to move and position this heavy machine on its pedestal. The locomotive's final operator, engineer N.I. Sorochenko, later became an administrator in the Bataysk railway organization.
