Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church

Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church is an Eastern Orthodox building with five golden-crossed domes situated in central Ljubljana. The white structure displays Byzantine Revival design with ornamented details and was completed in 1936.

A Serbian architect designed the building in the early 1930s, and local construction workers completed it within a few years. The project reflected the presence and influence of the Serbian community in Ljubljana at that time.

Serbian artists decorated the interior with religious frescoes during the 1980s and 1990s, creating a visual connection between Orthodox traditions and the local community. These works shaped the church's spiritual character and reflect how different cultures have contributed to Ljubljana's religious landscape.

The church is centrally located and easily accessible on foot, with space to walk around and view the interior peacefully. Visitors should be aware that religious services occur at specific times, and respectful dress is expected when entering.

The iconostasis was crafted by artisans from a region in Southeast Europe, while the icons themselves were painted by a local artist. This collaboration between craftspeople from different countries highlights the artistic traditions behind this religious artwork.
