The Museum of Modern Art is an art museum in Ljubljana with a facade of stone blocks and columns. The interior spaces are designed to allow natural light to fill the galleries and illuminate the displayed works.

Established by decree of the People's Republic of Slovenia government on 30 December 1947 and opened to the public on 3 January 1948, the museum's central building was designed by Edvard Ravnikar and built in 1948. It was his first major realised work, planned while he was assisting Jože Plečnik on the National and University Library, before his time in Paris with Le Corbusier. On 26 November 2011 it was expanded with the Metelkova Museum of Contemporary Art.

The galleries display works by local and international artists who shaped modern art movements of the 20th century. You will encounter paintings, sculptures, and prints showing different artistic approaches and styles from that period.

The museum operates from two sites: the Ravnikar building at Cankarjeva 15 and the Metelkova Museum of Contemporary Art at Maistrova 3. At the main entrance, a wide staircase under a monumental canopy leads up to the high ground floor. The facade is clad in white stone slabs, with windows set into the wall plane and framed in artificial stone.

The museum building was the first major constructed work of architect Edvard Ravnikar, designed while he was working on Jože Plečnik's National and University Library. The Hribar family donated the money for the building in 1936, at the initiative of Izidor Cankar.
