Eslite Hotel, hotel in Taipei, Taiwan
Eslite Hotel is a modern building near Songshan Cultural & Creative Park that combines accommodation, a library, and an art gallery into one space. The 18-story structure was designed by renowned Japanese architect Toyo Ito and features 104 rooms with private balconies, designer furnishings, and large windows overlooking the park or cityscape.
The hotel opened in 2015 and won the Golden Pin Design Award shortly after, marking its importance as a contemporary architectural project. The site itself has deeper roots, as it sits within Songshan Park, whose buildings date to the 1930s when they served as a tobacco factory before being transformed into a cultural hub.
The hotel takes its name from a prominent Taiwan bookstore chain and channels this passion into its design and spaces. Walls display photographs from Taiwan's past and artworks by local artists, creating an atmosphere where visitors connect with the city's cultural identity.
The hotel is easily accessible from both airports by taxi or public transportation, with travel taking about 30 to 45 minutes. The grounds include shops, restaurants, and the Eslite department store, providing everything needed for a comfortable stay without having to venture far.
The hotel offers a rare feature in Taipei: all 104 rooms come with private balconies, a luxury seldom found in the city. From these balconies, guests can watch fireworks over Taipei 101 on New Year's Eve, creating an unforgettable experience from this elevated vantage point.
