Discovery Center of Taipei

The Discovery Center of Taipei is an informational facility with multiple exhibition halls in the city's administrative district that presents urban development and transformation through interactive displays. The space uses multimedia and archival materials to document Taipei's past and present.

The building was originally Taipei's city archive and was converted into a public center in the early 2000s. The conversion marked a shift toward making the city's historical documents and stories accessible to the general public.

The center displays how daily life in the city has changed over time, showing local customs and the way people lived in different eras. Objects and photographs help visitors understand the rhythms of work and daily activities that shaped the community.

The center is located next to City Hall Station on the metro and can be easily reached on foot from the building that also houses other municipal facilities. The exhibitions are spread across multiple floors, so visitors should allow time for elevators or stairs.

One special hall takes visitors on a chronological journey through Taipei's transformation from a small settlement to a modern city. The path shows concrete changes in architecture, transportation, and the urban landscape across different decades.
