Taipei Nan Shan Plaza, Modern skyscraper in Xinyi District, Taiwan
Taipei Nan Shan Plaza is a skyscraper in Xinyi District, Taiwan, rising to 272 meters across forty-five floors with four basement levels beneath street level. Its slender exterior features glass facades that reflect the cityscape during the day and glow softly when lit at night.
Work began in December 2014 with backing from Nan Shan Insurance, which assembled the site over several years. The building reached completion in June 2018 and became the second tallest structure in Taipei, standing after Taipei 101 just a few streets away.
Japanese architecture firm Mitsubishi Jisho Design shaped the structure to reflect contemporary Asian architectural principles within Taiwan's urban landscape.
The ground floor and upper stories hold shops and offices, while underground walkways connect to nearby buildings and metro stations. Visitors can enter the public areas below to view art installations or walk through the shopping center.
Inside are roughly 1,600 square meters of public galleries that regularly display rotating exhibitions and artworks from changing artists. Mitsubishi Jisho Design from Japan created the architecture, drawing the tower's form from Asian design principles.
