Hsin Ji Building, Commercial skyscraper in Xinyi District, Taiwan
Hsin Ji Building is a commercial office tower in the Xinyi District of Taipei, standing at about 330 feet (100 m) tall with 22 floors above ground and 5 basement levels. The building offers office space to a range of companies and has retail space on its lower floors.
The building was completed in 1997, when the Xinyi District was being developed into Taipei's main business center. That transformation drew many national and international companies to the area over the following years.
The ground floor of the building houses the Taiwan Gospel Book Room, a Christian bookstore that operates alongside corporate offices. This combination is unusual for the district and draws a noticeably different crowd from the typical office visitors.
The building is on Xinyi Road and easy to reach by metro or bus. Because it is a working office building, many floors are only open to tenants and authorized visitors, so access is generally limited for the general public.
In 2017, the building was chosen as a pilot site for smart grid technology, testing energy-saving methods in an older commercial tower. It is unusual to see a building from the 1990s used as a testing ground for this kind of technology.
