Continental Engineering Corporation Tower, Office skyscraper in Daan District, Taipei, Taiwan.
Continental Engineering Corporation Tower is an office building on Dunhua South Road in Taipei's Da'an District, standing 140 meters tall with 31 floors above ground and 6 basement levels. The lower facade is clad in granite, while the upper floors are wrapped in double-glazed curtain walls.
The tower was built in the late 1990s and finished in 2003, a period when Taipei was seeing rapid growth in tall commercial buildings. Its construction coincided with a broader wave of corporate development that changed the look of Da'an District.
The tower sits along Dunhua South Road, one of the few tree-lined avenues in Taipei that gives the surrounding area a notably green feel. The street is popular with pedestrians and cyclists, making the building part of a lively but human-scaled urban stretch.
The building sits in a well-connected part of Da'an District, within walking distance of several metro stations. Since it is a private office tower, entry is generally not open to the public without a business reason.
The tower has a conical skylight that pulls natural light deep into the building's interior, reducing the need for artificial lighting in the central areas. This was an uncommon choice for Taipei at the time and is considered an early example of energy-conscious design in the city's tall buildings.
