Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People, Titanium arch in Khreshchatyi Park, Kyiv, Ukraine
The Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People is a 35-meter-tall titanium structure in Khreshchatyi Park. The curved metal form spans roughly 50 meters and stands out as a landmark visible from different corners of the park.
The arch was built in 1982 to mark 1500 years of Kyiv's history. In May 2022, it received its present name and took on new meaning as a symbol of Ukrainian independence.
The structure stands as a central meeting point for public gatherings, concerts, and exhibitions, representing modern Ukrainian independence through its architectural presence.
An observation platform at the top offers views toward the Dnieper River and the city's eastern areas. The location is close to the National Philharmonic and easy to access from the park.
The structure was originally designed for a different purpose, but its meaning shifted through historical events. Visitors often overlook that the silvery metal is titanium, a rare material for public monuments.
