G. C. Murphy Building

The G.C. Murphy Building is an art center in Fountain Square featuring five galleries and twenty-three artist studios distributed throughout its large space. The building also houses an art supply store, an Italian restaurant, an English pub, and a salon, making it a mixed-use arts and dining destination.

The building began as a structure in 1884 but underwent significant changes over time. In 1951 it was transformed into a G.C. Murphy five-and-dime store, which became a major commercial presence in the area.
