The sculpture was first placed at Alverna Retreat House in Indianapolis during the 1960s. It was later moved to Sacred Heart Church in the 1990s, where it now stands.
The statue shows Christ with open arms, inviting visitors to experience a space for personal devotion and prayer. The depiction of bare feet resting on clouds and thorns communicates a direct message about suffering and humble faith.
