Walter Library

Walter Library is a research facility on the University of Minnesota East Bank campus that holds large collections focused on physical sciences and engineering. The building spreads across multiple floors with study areas, computer stations, and reading zones designed for both individual work and group projects.

This library was established as a central part of the University of Minnesota Libraries network and has served the academic community continuously since then. Over the decades it expanded and updated its spaces and collections to meet changing research and study needs.

The building opens its study spaces 24 hours daily during final exam periods when students need extended access. Using your university card for entry makes navigation easier, and staff at the information desk can direct you quickly to the collections or work areas you need.

Inside the building sits a specialized makerspace where students from every academic field can work with technical tools and materials. This area lets visitors see how theoretical knowledge becomes hands-on work.
