The Greater Cleveland Aquarium is housed in a renovated industrial building along the Cuyahoga River and displays freshwater and marine creatures throughout many exhibits. A large clear tunnel lets visitors watch sharks and other fish swimming directly in front of them inside a massive tank.
The facility opened to the public in 2012, bringing back an attraction that the city had been without for decades. Converting an old power plant building showed how industrial structures could be repurposed for new uses.
