Bingham Company Warehouse, Industrial warehouse in Warehouse District, Cleveland, United States.
Bingham Company Warehouse is an eight-story industrial building made of brick with concrete floors and steel-frame construction, located on West 9th Street. Large plate glass windows across its facade display the functional design typical of Chicago School architecture.
The building was completed in 1916 by the architectural firm Walker and Weeks, reported as the largest warehouse in the United States at that time. It was built during an era when Cleveland was a major industrial and trading center.
The warehouse is part of Cleveland's Warehouse District, which shifted from residential neighborhood to commercial center in the late 1800s. People now live and work here, with shops and apartments filling spaces that once stored goods.
The building now houses residential apartments and retail spaces following a major renovation completed in 2004. Visitors can explore the surrounding area and view the architecture from outside while enjoying nearby shops and restaurants.
The building featured a railroad spur from the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway that ran directly into its basement for loading and unloading cargo. This system allowed freight to move from rail directly into storage areas without additional handling.
