New Century Guild, Women's organization in Philadelphia, United States.
The New Century Guild is a four-story brick building in Italianate style built in 1851 and located on Locust Street in Philadelphia. Inside are meeting spaces, a research library, and archives holding documents about women's work movements and labor history.
It was founded in 1882 by Eliza Sproat Turner to provide education and job opportunities for working women who had limited access to professional resources. Later in 2021, the building was converted into a hotel while keeping original artifacts and artwork from the organization's collection.
The organization created a community where women from different trades and professions could meet and support each other's work, something rare for its time. The spaces still convey the sense of belonging and shared purpose that visitors can feel when walking through the building.
The building is centrally located in Philadelphia and easily reached on foot, with information about the organization's history available inside. Archive materials can be viewed by arrangement or through the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
The restoration paid careful attention to preserving original architectural details and many personal items from the era. These elements give visitors a direct window into the daily work and lives of the women who used these spaces.
