Folger Estate Stable Historic District, Historical ranch and stable district in Woodside, United States.
Folger Estate Stable Historic District is a ranch and stable complex from the early 1900s set on about three acres. The site contains ten buildings including the main stable, a carriage house, and a blacksmith barn, all arranged across the grounds.
The property was established as Mountain Home Ranch around 1846 by Charles Brown after the original redwood forest was cleared. The estate later developed into the stable and ranch complex that stands on the site today.
Chinese laborers built many of the stone walls here between 1874 and 1902, leaving their mark on the property's character. Their craftsmanship shaped how the place looks today and reflects the contributions of immigrant workers to the area.
The grounds now sit within Wunderlich Park and continue to function as an equestrian facility. Visitors can walk the property and view the buildings, though access may vary by season or park conditions.
The site features pink marble baseboards and redwood wainscoting designed by Arthur Brown Jr., the architect who later designed San Francisco City Hall. These refined details show the care taken in designing a private property by an architect of major importance.
