The synagogue, constructed in 1924, emerged from a small congregation established in 1915 and represents the oldest remaining Jewish temple structure in Indianapolis.
The congregation follows both Conservative Judaism and Reconstructionist traditions, promoting equal participation of men and women in religious practices and community activities.
The temple conducts regular Shabbat services on Friday evenings at 6:00 PM and Saturday mornings at 10:00 AM, with additional information available at bez613.org.
The entrance features a distinctive decorative canopy suspended by two steel tension cables, demonstrating the architectural expertise of Vonnegut & Bohn firm.
