Cincinnati Union Terminal, Art Deco railway station in Cincinnati, US

Cincinnati Union Terminal is a railway station designed in the Art Deco style with geometric patterns and ornate details throughout its structure. The central hall spans about 180 feet across and is topped by a massive glass dome decorated with mosaic murals showing transportation themes.

The station opened in 1933 and brought together five separate passenger stations into one central building. This consolidation happened during the height of American railway transportation.

The building now houses the Cincinnati Museum Center with natural history and science collections displayed throughout its spaces. These museums have transformed the station into a living center where visitors engage with regional heritage and knowledge.

The station functions as both a working railway hub and museum complex, so opening hours may vary depending on which areas you plan to visit. The building's spacious layout and clear signage make it easy to navigate regardless of your destination within it.

The glass dome crowning the central rotunda is an engineering achievement and one of the largest of its kind in the western hemisphere. Few visitors notice that its mosaic decorations were specifically designed to tell stories of transportation and travel.
