Town Square, Mixed-use complex in Downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota
Town Square is a multi-building complex in downtown Saint Paul consisting of three connected structures of varying heights. The ensemble includes a 27-story office tower, a 25-story building, and a 16-story hotel that together create a mixed-use urban space.
The complex opened in 1980 as a public-private partnership project with the city. This development marked a turning point in how downtown areas were reimagined and revitalized during that era.
From 1989 to 2000, the complex housed Cafesjian's Carousel, a 1914 Philadelphia Toboggan Company creation that later moved to Como Park.
The property connects to neighboring buildings through a frequently used covered walkway that protects pedestrians from weather. Transit stations are located right across the street for easy access and getting around the downtown area.
Between 1989 and 2000, a restored 1914 carousel occupied a space in the complex before being relocated to a public park. This artwork created an unexpected cultural feature within a downtown business building.
