Bismarck Tower, Memorial tower in Aachen, Germany
The 27-meter stone tower rises above a semicircular terrace, accessible through two staircases in the Burtscheid district forest near the cemetery.
The tower, inaugurated on June 22, 1907, commemorates Otto von Bismarck, the first Chancellor of Germany, who spent his legal clerkship in Aachen from 1836 to 1837.
Students from Aachen Technical University initiated the construction project in February 1899, gathering 5,500 marks in donations to build this monument.
Visitors can access the tower through the Aachen Forest Cemetery, which opens on Thursdays from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Fridays until noon.
The architectural design forms a large letter 'B' and features three busts created by Karl Krauss, depicting Otto von Bismarck, Helmuth von Moltke, and Albrecht von Roon.
