Nilachala Kutir

Nilachala Kutir is a single-story building in Puri that houses meditation halls and living quarters for spiritual practitioners. The structure sits near the Swargadwara area and functions as a retreat space for students and devotees.

The site was established as a spiritual community in 1923 after the founders initially lived in a rented house called Giri Kutir. Over the following years it developed into a recognized retreat center for spiritual students and teachers.

The Nilachala Saraswata Sangha organization established its foundation at this location on August 24, 1934, during Swami Nigamananda's birthday celebration.

Visitors reach the site easily using public transportation from Puri Railway Station. The location remains accessible to those interested most of the time, though it is worth checking ahead if specific events are happening.

A notable visitor spent a week in 1931 at the location discussing deep spiritual practices with the community. Such historical encounters show how the place drew teachers and seekers from different circles.
