Barsi Gate

Barsi Gate is a medieval fortification in Hansi built with tall stone walls and thick masonry designed for defense. The structure features elevated positions for protection and displays Persian inscriptions that mark its construction period.

Alauddin Khilji ordered construction of the gate in 1304 to strengthen the external fortifications of Hansi. This addition was part of a broader military expansion to secure the region during his reign.

The Persian writings carved into the stone reflect the architectural and linguistic influences that shaped medieval northern India. Visitors walking past the gate walls can observe these marks and understand the cultural exchanges of that era.

The gate sits within a busy market area filled with shops and street vendors, placing the visit in the middle of daily local life. The location is easy to access but can get crowded, especially during market hours.

The gate holds original Persian inscriptions dated to 1304-1305, making it one of the oldest dated structures in the Hansi region. These precise marks provide direct evidence of when and by whose order the work was completed.
