Santa Maria de La Salette

Santa Maria de La Salette is a Gothic Revival church located in central Catania, distinguished by a symmetrical facade made of reddish volcanic stone with white limestone details. The building contains a single nave with cross-vaulted apse and features pointed arches, a rose window, and ceilings decorated with blue and gold ornamental work.

The church was constructed starting in 1872 following the vision of Cardinal Giuseppe Benedetto Dusmet, but suffered major destruction when Allied bombs struck Catania in May 1943 during World War II. The damage was repaired afterward, allowing services to resume in the restored building.
