Casa Museo Giovanni Verga

Casa Museo Giovanni Verga is a literary house museum occupying the second floor of a historic residential palazzo in central Catania. The preserved rooms contain the author's personal library with over 2,600 volumes, along with manuscripts, furniture, and everyday objects from his working life.

The author was born in this house in 1840 and lived here until his death in 1922, making it his creative headquarters for most of his life. During his residence, he developed and refined the literary approach that revolutionized Italian storytelling.

The house reveals how a writer shaped Italian storytelling by focusing on ordinary people and their struggles. Walking through the rooms shows how his daily life and creative work were deeply connected to his literary innovations.
