Archaeological Museum of Bodhgaya

The Archaeological Museum of Bodh Gaya holds stone sculptures, terracotta pieces, and ancient religious objects from different historical periods. The exhibits are arranged in several galleries where you can see artifacts spanning hundreds of years of artistic production.

The museum was founded in 1956 to preserve discoveries from archaeological digs around Bodh Gaya. Over the decades, it has gathered important pieces that reveal how art and religion developed in this region.

The collections show how artists depicted religious figures and stories over centuries. Walking through the galleries, you can see how artistic styles changed and how different traditions influenced each other.

The museum sits near Mahabodhi Temple and is open during daytime hours on most days. Plan to spend a few hours walking through the different gallery spaces to see the full collection.

One gallery holds rare coins from an earlier period alongside carved stones depicting stories from Hindu and Buddhist traditions. These pieces show how both religious traditions existed and influenced each other in the same area.
