Chauvin Sculpture Garden & Art, Art gallery and open-air museum in Terrebonne Parish, United States.
Chauvin Sculpture Garden & Art is a collection of more than 100 concrete and brick sculptures spread along Bayou Little Caillou, featuring a 45-foot tower adorned with figures. The works range from angels and religious scenes to everyday moments and are scattered throughout the grounds.
Kenny Hill, a self-taught artist and bricklayer, created this collection over ten years beginning in 1988. The artist eventually departed from the site without further explanation, leaving behind his life's work.
The sculptures display religious themes, local Cajun heritage, and personal stories, with many pieces featuring the artist's face throughout. As you walk around, these figures reveal how deeply rooted they are in the creator's own life and experiences.
The grounds are located along Bayouside Drive in Chauvin and can be explored on foot with comfortable walking shoes recommended. The best time to visit is during cooler months, as summer humidity is high and insects are more active during this season.
Many figures were damaged by Hurricane Ida in 2021, giving the garden a story of resilience and rebuilding. Repairs and restoration efforts have continued over time as the university has managed and protected the site.
