The vertical rock walls of Canyon de Furnas rise over twenty meters above the emerald green waters of Lake Furnas, creating natural stone corridors.

The canyon emerged following the construction of the Furnas hydroelectric dam, which transformed the regional landscape and local communities into a water recreation destination.

Lake Furnas spans over one thousand square kilometers, making it a center for water activities and boat tours that support the local economy.

Visitors can experience the canyon through boat trips departing from Ponte do Rio Turvo or by accessing the observation point at kilometer 312 of MG-050.

The canyon features natural beaches with green waters at its base, where boats stop for swimming breaks during guided tours.
