Fervedouro do Soninho

Fervedouro do Soninho is a natural spring in the Jalapao region where underground water rises with tremendous pressure, forming a deep pool with transparent water. The four internal sources within the basin create a system that allows visitors to float effortlessly without sinking into the depths.

Jalapao communities have used this natural spring for many generations as an important water source and healing place before it became a tourism destination in recent decades. This long connection to the spring remains embedded in local practices and knowledge about the water.

The name means "Little Dream" in Portuguese, reflecting how local communities poetically connect with these waters as a sacred space. Visitors can observe how people use the spring today as a place for body care and spiritual renewal.

Visitors walk along wooden walkways to reach the pool, which provide safe access through the grounds. The best time to visit is early morning, when the water is calmest and sunlight hits the spring directly for clearer views.

The water and sand mix so intensely that a kind of thickened liquid forms, preventing anyone from submerging no matter how hard they try to dive. This rare natural phenomenon occurs at only a handful of places worldwide and makes floating here a truly unforgettable experience.
