Mayto Beach, Pacific beach in Cabo Corrientes, Mexico

Mayto Beach is a Pacific shoreline in Cabo Corrientes, Mexico, extending for several kilometers with pale sand and native coastal plants along the water's edge. The stretch remains largely free of built structures, allowing visitors to experience an undeveloped coastline.

This stretch of coast formed naturally along the Pacific and remained largely isolated from major settlements for centuries. Small communities only began establishing themselves here in recent decades, keeping the location relatively remote.

The absence of commercial vendors and restaurants on Mayto Beach reflects the local commitment to preserving traditional Mexican coastal life.

Access is via a dirt road from El Tuito that takes several hours and requires a sturdy vehicle to navigate. Lodging and food options are minimal, so plan accordingly for basic amenities and bring supplies as needed.

The beach shows signs of gradual change, with markers and early development signals visible along the shore where future projects are planned. Despite this, the location maintains its quiet, undisturbed character today.

Hidden beaches in Mexico: wild swimming, fishing villages, secret coves

Mexico has beaches that stay away from the crowds of common tourist spots. They stretch from the sheltered bays of Quintana Roo, where sea turtles come to lay eggs, to the quiet coasts of Baja California Sur. These places keep their natural feel: clear waters, coral reefs filled with colorful fish, and the daily rhythm of local fishermen. To get to many of these beaches, you need to take a boat or walk along a trail, making them places only the truly curious travel to. In the south of the country, near Jalisco and Guerrero, other beaches remain wild. They offer white or gray sandy shores lined with limestone rocks or rainforests. Small fishing villages along the coast stay authentic: the residents sell their catch directly on the sand, and seafood restaurants serve fresh catches. There are no large hotel complexes or busy coastal roads. Most visitors here are looking for quiet and nature, away from the busy seaside resorts.
