Playa Boca Quimixto

Playa Boca Quimixto is a beach on Banderas Bay with golden sand and emerald waters near the mouth of the La Puerta River. A small fishing village sits behind the shoreline, with seafood restaurants and simple lodgings for visitors.

The village was founded by local families in this remote cove and has kept its original character through the generations. Fishing has remained the foundation of life here and continues to shape the community.

Fishermen work here day after day, bringing their catch to beachfront restaurants where traditional Mexican seafood is prepared using recipes passed down through families. This everyday rhythm shapes how locals and visitors experience the place.

The easiest way to reach the beach is by water taxi from Boca de Tomatlán or Los Muertos Pier, with travel times between 20 and 45 minutes depending on your starting point. The landing spot is right at the village, where everything is within walking distance.

About two kilometers inland, a natural waterfall can be reached on foot along stone paths or by horseback through tropical forest. This inland excursion offers visitors a refreshing escape from the beach.
