Grand Anse Beach

Grand Anse Beach is a long sandy shore on the northeastern coast of Saint Lucia with white sand and clear waters. The beach stretches for several kilometers and is framed by dense coastal vegetation.

The shoreline was important to indigenous peoples in pre-colonial times and later became central to the island's fishing heritage. Its remote location helped preserve the beach in its natural state through centuries of human settlement.

The beach is difficult to access and requires a four-wheel-drive vehicle or guided tour to reach it safely. Planning ahead and seeking local guidance is important, as there are few formal services or facilities at this remote location.

From March to August, endangered leatherback turtles arrive to lay eggs on the sand under cover of darkness. Organized night-watching programs let visitors witness this natural event while keeping a careful distance from nesting mothers.
